I have been considering looking into the home business program SMC. My family is in need of money and I thought I might give SMC a try. I requested the info package today, and am waiting for that in the mail. I realize that it costs $400 to start, and I have been able to get financial help from a relative who’s agreed to pay the upfront cost.

How exactly does SMC work? Do they just give me a website and I sell their products or what? Do I have to make my own website. Can I choose to make my own website (I am a web designer). Is SMC a scam?

I really like the idea of selling products on-line with my own website store, however I am not sure if it’s a good idea.

What are other options besides SMC?

What about just starting my own on-line store to sell merchandise without partnering with SMC? How would I go about doing that and where would I get the merchandise? What type of license is required in the US?

I am eager to get started and was hoping for the best options. Are there places online to buy discounted merchandise that I can later sell for profit?

Any bit of advice would be extremely helpful and if you could provide past/current experiences that would benefit me greatly.

Thanks!

Just think about the math for a minute. Why would SMC sell you whole sale merchandise for you to market on line, when they could do it themselves and pay someone minimum wage to do it? If you are not going to make much over minimum wage why do it? And that’s just the best possible scenario, because it could be that you make much less, that’s just their break point, the minimum, where it would be worth it to sell the program.

No one is out there giving away money … Many are out there scamming people and taking their money with false promises or impressions.

You would do better to go out and find a product yourself that you can get for less than it sells on line for. That is merchandising and it’s been going on for thousands of years, if not longer.

I want to move to Atlanta in the next year, and start working in advertising. I know that you have to start at the bottom, but I don’t know where and how to at least get in to the door of the business. I’m currently going for an associates in marketing and I have one in business and when I do move to Atlanta I want to finish and get my Bachelors in one or the other. Do anyone have any suggestions?

So you’re good at marketing. I know of the perfect opp where you could put your skills to good use and empower yourself at the same time. I’m working with a 35 yr old company that has been experiencing tremedous growth in every quarter of doing business for the last 15 yrs of it’s existence. They are publicly traded on the highly respected NYSE and have been featured in top magazines such as Forbes, Money, Business Week, and many others. Not to many companies can say they have a track record like this. A few things that I love about the company I’m working with is it allows me the opportunity to Get Paid Daily, create Passive Income, and Residual Income. Best selling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, Robert Kiyosaki openly stated "I should have started your business before starting my own…yours is the best compensation plan I have ever seen. Experts are saying our company will do more business in the next 35 months than we have in the last 35 years, and as of the end of 2006 revenues were at $445,000,000 if you would like more information on this this exciting business please email me at

Explain where the revenue for The Coffee Shop will come from (10 points for best answer).?
Now that Hardcastle and Sykes have completed the conversion of the spare buildings into retail units, the units are in a good position alongside the canal towpath and are ready for letting. The canal has been cleaned up and is quite a tourist attraction for walkers and cyclists who use the towpath on a regular basis as well as the holidaymakers who use barges on the canal and those touring the area by car.

Imagine that you have successfully completed your BTEC First Diploma or Certificate in Business and have decided to start your own business by combining the knowledge gained on your course and your hobby. In your spare time over the last few years, you have been baking celebration cakes for friends, neighbours and charity fund raising events. You now feel ready to turn this hobby into a profit making business by opening a café, specialising in coffee and home made cakes.
You have been to look at the new retail units belonging to Hardcastle and Sykes and have reserved one which you feel would be ideal for your proposed new venture – it is very spacious with an external paved area that is ideal for summer.
In order to encourage businesses to rent the new retail units, Hardcastle and Sykes have decided to charge a low rent for the first six months of trading whilst the businesses become established. After that rents will be reviewed. It is envisaged that the units will be occupied mainly by new rather than existing re-located businesses.
You have managed to save up some money with which to start your business and your parents have agreed to help out financially with an interest free loan for 2 years provided that you can prove to them that your business will be financially viable. To convince them of this, you have to provide written evidence that your business is expected to be successful. This evidence will be checked by a Small Business Adviser at the local Chamber of Commerce.

Most of the food items and ingredients, cleaning materials and necessities like serviettes, will be bought weekly from Batley’s Cash and Carry warehouse. There may be busy times when you run short of things like washing up liquid and have to buy them from the nearest shop.

You will have to use the same formula McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, and other larger companies use. Here is their formula to determine as to whether or not to open a store

Total population in your area that have disposable income to spend, divided by the number of other business’s in your area who provide the same product. This gives you your market share.

Now take your market share and multiply by the average expenditure of your customer base (example: 3000 customers X $3.00 each (you can find out what the average customer spends from research through your local chamber of commerce. Now you must deduct expenses then you will have an idea of your income.

If you find that your market share will be very low,you might want to re-consider or find out what would make your business different from the competition.

Hope this helps

When people ask how they can succeed with an online business, they usually want to know why it feels as if some people are making a million dollars overnight while others are struggling to see their very first dollar.

Success is not instantaneous for anyone. Even the most thriving business owners knew how to succeed with online business before they started out by having a plan in place to take them from novice to seasoned professional in the shortest amount of time.

The first thing you want to do when discovering how to succeed with an online business is some preliminary research and investigation into your niche. It doesnt matter if youre selling items on eBay or writing information products for instant download. You have to know what the needs of your target audience are so that you can cater to them and reap the financial rewards.

Once you know how to reach out and grab the attention of your market, you want to create a product or sell items that make them develop a loyalty to your brand. If you really want to know how to succeed with an online business, the key is in creating an empire of insatiable customers hungry for whatever it is your business produces.

This takes lots of determination because many people give up or get sidetracked with new ideas. This is certainly not how to succeed with an online business. You have to follow through with a single idea, monetize it, and then move on to your next profitable endeavor.

If your business is online, then youll probably be pursing life as an Internet marketer. Even if youre selling items on eBay, you still want to drive large quantities of targeted traffic to your offer. Traffic is the primary concern youll have when seeking methods on how to succeed with an online business.

When you have visitors coming to your page or site, you want to test and tweak your offer until it performs at its very best. If you have headlines or free offers, then switch them out so that half of your visitors see the original and the other half see your new offer.

This is one secret on how to succeed with online businesses that many marketers dont want you to know because if you continue promoting a single idea, your business wont grow, but will grow stagnant instead.

As your companys profits begin to take root, you want to continue discovering how to succeed with an online business because there are always new opportunities and techniques you can try. Expand your empire and saturate the market with you positioned as the resident expert before moving on to monetize a new niche.

Trends Predictions Report, by Ben Hourahine, Futures Editor at Leo Burnett (London).

The key dynamics in culture, communication, advertising and marketing:

- Mass is back (Say o to the Swell Society).

At the turn of this year online downloads were included as part of the UK Christmas pop chart for the first time ever. This trend of online popularity being institutionalized shows that mass appeal will once again define marketing attitudes. The goal is the same; reach a mass audience, the difference is how to achieve it. Say o to the Swell Society.

- Community Commerce.

Community connections will become more central to business practice. Retailers will seek to bring the community further inside the store, with more coffee shops, banking services and pharmacies within supermarkets. On the other side, community connections are being used to create new businesses for established brands.

- Screen Saturation.

Moving forward we will see the explosion of screen-based media, with screens on the side of buses, in petrol stations, supermarkets, the home and the pocket. While the medium may remain the same, the reach, context, audience and role of the media will be tweaked. There will be more broadcast screens than ever in 2010 and things are only going to get bigger: According to Sharp, the electronics manufacturer, the average television screen size will be 60″ by 2015.

- Gender Reversal.

More women in work and the increasing role played by men within the family will see marketers change their focus. Men’s interest and investment in the family will continue to rise as well, morphing the gender balance and changing the advertising context. Expect to see more and more campaigns aimed at women at work and men in the home.

- Brand Guardians.

The role of brands is evolving and will enter a new phase. With growing concerns over how to be healthy, safe and environmentally friendly, mixed with a real confusion about how to achieve this, we will see brands increasingly attempting to take on a guardian role.

- IP Idols.

Artists are grabbing control of their creative product. Intellectual Property (creative works — ideas, songs, movies, TV shows) used to be owned and licensed by studios, record labels and other commercial institutions, but we will see artists back in the driving seat.

- The Data Awareness Era.

The public will be more aware of their data exposure than ever before and privacy concerns will be a defining issue in the future. Expect this trend to accelerate with the introduction of GPS location based information, the explosion in online information storage and social networking increasingly reflecting real life…

- Social Networks Get Real.

Social networks like Facebook — once just virtual playgrounds – will now start to plug directly back into the real world. Increasingly we will see these networks beginning to dictate everyday life, influencing who people do business with, which parties, movies and gigs they go to, where they meet and with whom. Accelerating this shift is the advent and take up of mobile social networking: 14m people did it in 2007, and forecasts suggest it could hit 600m by the time the Olympics hits London in 2012.
